Our History

Since January 14th, 1914 when a group of concerned citizens first met to lay plans for the formation of The Social Service League on September 11, 1914, Brantford has benefited from the caring concern of volunteers who valued families.  Relief, support and assistance has continued to be offered over the decades as the Social Service League became known as The Family Service Bureau and now The Family Counselling Centre of Brant, Inc.

Many organizational changes have occurred, the Agency has grown, services have shifted and changed professional standards have been adopted and funding challenges have been many, but the dedication of Board members, staff and volunteers has remained consistent for 90 years.
