Family Relief Services
Family Relief Services is available to provide periodic, short term, respite care to developmentally and/or physically delayed children and adults. Respite care, for the caregiver or parent is an opportunity for an interval of relief from the care of a special needs individual. For the special needs individual it is an opportunity to experience a creative, compassionate program with peer interaction and recreation away from their home.
Family Relief Services offers two types of respite care:
Day Program
This program is offered to individuals with a physical and/or developmental disability on a daily basis, and is offered throughout the year. The Day Program is offered from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, Monday thru Thursday. On Fridays it is open 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.
In Home Respite Program
The Host Family Program matches individuals with a family for respite care with a maximum of 48 hours per month in the host families home.
Both programs are supported by a core group of volunteers. Our volunteers are recruited, screened and trained as part of the Family Counselling Centre of Brant, Inc. mission statement.
Referrals for both of the respite programs come from Contact Brant. An internal referral by a member of the Family Counselling Centre of Brant, Inc. team will also be considered, and Contact Brant will be notified of this internal referral.
This service is available to residents of Brantford and Brant County and is funded by the
Ministry of Community and Social Services.
A small fee for some of the services may be applied. |
